TSA PreCheck

With TSA PreCheck®, you'll breeze through airport security without removing your:

  • Shoes
  • Belt
  • Light jacket
  • 3-1-1 liquids bag
  • Laptop or tablet

Once approved, you'll receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN). Add it when you book flights to use TSA PreCheck® lanes.

TSA enrollment is different from our Illinois fingerprinting.

  • TSA PreCheck®, TWIC and HAZMAT enrollment is available only at our Effingham office (302 E. Jefferson Ave.). Our other 40+ fingerprint locations cannot process TSA enrollments.
  • Don't use the BBS fingerprint scheduler for TSA services. Book through the TSA enrollment website, or simply walk in.
  • TSA fees, payment and required documents are set by the TSA and are different from Illinois fingerprinting fees.

How to Enroll

  1. Book online (optional). Schedule an appointment at tsaenrollmentbyidemia.tsa.dhs.gov. Appointments aren't required – walk-ins are welcome.
  2. Bring your documents. Review the TSA's list of acceptable enrollment documents.
  3. Visit our Effingham office. We'll capture your fingerprints, photo and documents.

Important REAL ID information

  • For TSA PreCheck® enrollment: since May 1, 2025, you must bring a REAL ID (driver's license or state ID) or another acceptable form of ID, such as a passport.
  • For air travel: since May 7, 2025, you need a REAL ID or another acceptable form of ID, such as a passport, at the airport security checkpoint, or you may face delays.
